The bands of the armed forces preserve a piece of Italian identity: marches, anthems and symphonic pages that have accompanied the country’s history. Radici d’Italia (“Roots of Italy”) brings the Joint Armed Forces Band to the concert stage, and captures the performance in a studio recording.
The Joint Armed Forces Band
It is a unique ensemble: 75 musicians in full dress uniform, drawn from the bands of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Carabinieri and Guardia di Finanza, brought together under a single conductor. It plays on the highest occasions of the Italian Republic, from the 2 June celebrations to 4 November ceremonies, from the Senate to Piazza Navona: when the armed forces speak with one voice, this is it.
Music as a root
A project that combines the rigour of military institutions with musical outreach, telling the story of shared roots in the most direct language there is: live music. The studio recording turns an unrepeatable performance into a document that endures.
