The Mediterranean does not divide: it connects. Sponde (“Shores”) is an exhibition exploring the cultural connections between the banks of this sea, bringing into dialogue the art, traditions and shared memory of the peoples who live on them.
Three continents, one sea
Three continents and more than twenty countries face the Mediterranean: for millennia its routes have carried goods, languages, religions, techniques and images. Sponde starts from here: every work is a crossing, from painting to photography, celebrating what Mediterranean cultures have built together over the centuries, and what they can still build.
A bridge of art
The exhibition traces a path between Europe, Africa and the Middle East: not a catalogue of differences, but a map of similarities. Ports, markets, theatres, festivals: the same forms return on every shore, with different accents. It is the thread that ties Sponde to Seaprom’s other cultural projects, from the census of ancient theatres to the exhibitions in the landmark venues of the Italian sea.
